The piece of work titled ‘Kiaros’, meaning Gods ordained time, throughout history. Sometimes called the ‘right time’ or ‘appointed season.’ This work explores the environment which I grew up in, and seeks to remember what that world was like to me as a child, it is really all about acceptance and celebrating those earlier memories. It also asks the question that I asked earlier. ‘Are we a product of our environment or a product of our imagination’ It concerns itself with the concept that it does not matter where you grew up, but how you process those early experiences, and also explores ways of thinking differently, by using your imagination.
It also looks at the longing to re-establish and accept who we are, and to communicate and understand the simplicity of life, as it was in the sixties. It is also a way of bringing those ‘memories alive’ in these small pieces of work, sometimes with humour. This has been part of my own journey.
‘Moving out as a way of moving in’. I like simple concepts, with simple conclusions, I like to remember, so as not to forget. I choose found and recycled objects to show permanence and non permanence, old ideas and new ones, nostalgia full memories. The beauty of objects, thoughts and places. The notion of unity, connection and ‘oneness’. My own thoughts and ideas, my own visual memories made public.I hope you enjoy it!
