Paintings by Gillian Mary Patterson

On display are a selection of paintings using Watercolour paints, Acrylic inks, pens, collage and Alcohol inks on Yupo Paper inspired by the BBC’s David Attenborough’s programmes about our beautiful planet, especially ‘Blue Planet”.

“I have always thought that Art is an extension of oneself, it comes from the heart, and it seems to flow like an intuitive response. Due to my MS & Fibromyalgia I have been thrust into a life I never anticipated, it has left me in a position where my artwork is my life, my passion. Art to me has kept me a float in times when I have felt like I was drowning.”

Gillian has been creating most of her life, using many different mediums from making her own clothes aged sixteen up to designing and making her own jewellery after leaving a dream teaching job. Over lockdown she threw herself into creating artwork again. Gillian has a BA in Visual Arts and Culture, as well as a PGCE in Art and Design: and a Certificate of Education for Textiles Technology.
