Reflections on intention, meaning and the power of choice by Anna France-Williams

More or Less is a personal installation and invitation for reflection at the start of 2025. For over 35 years, I have been journalling as a way to explore the questions, intentions and challenges that shape my life. This display brings some of my private journalled reflections into public view. Using two wooden frames strung with chicken wire, I’ve created spaces for objects, words and memories that represent what I want more of—and less of—in my life. Each piece holds meaning, reflecting my journey, values and the practice of intentional living.

As an Anglo-Asian who moved to Manchester in 2020 with my family, I’ve been drawn to the questions that guide us: What brings us joy? What habits and connections help us grow? What is stifling us? These reflections are at the heart of my work as a journaller, author and communicator at WaterAid.
I hope this display prompts you to pause, reflect and ask: What do I want more of and less of in my life? Our ability to set intentions and take action reminds us of the power we hold to shape our futures.
