An exhibition of work created in 4 weeks of collage workshops with Illustrator Aoife Greenham

Collage can be a creative means in and of itself, but it can also serve as an open form of play and experimentation, a way of breaking out of old habits, and seeing image making in a new light.

For 4 weeks, attendees of this creative collage workshop observed, printed, made marks, cut, tore up and glued a wide array of experiments and images. We used found papers, printed our own textures, and played with shape and colour. As the workshop facilitator, I learned as much from the artists in the workshops as they did from me, and it was such a rewarding experience to work alongside the two groups, adults and teens. I was really impressed with the level of focus, detail and sheer enjoyment that the participants brought.

Here are some of the results of the workshops, encompassing observational ‘drawing’, the creation of imaginative creatures, chimeras and monsters, and self portraits. Thanks to everyone who joined in!
