Jacqueline Brown – Acrylic on Canvas

Through her paintings Jacqueline Brown explores the simplicity of the natural tropical form and the colour palettes of the Caribbean. Her work Offers an alternative way of looking at nature, embodying a sense of place, visions of beauty encompassing aromas, textures, colours and atmospheric sensations associated with this luminous Island. Her inspiration for this collection of work is based the environment of her parent’s native homeland, Nevis, located in the West Indies on the Eastern Coast of the Atlantic Ocean once part of the Transatlantic slave trade.

Jacqueline Brown was born and raised in Manchester, England. She reconnected with her parent’s homeland, Nevis. She graduated from The John Moores University of Liverpool where she studied Fine Art, gaining her BA honours in painting and Sculpture. After achieving her PGCE in education, she went on to teach Art and Design in secondary education. She has had numerous solo exhibitions and collaborations with other Artists in England. She devotes some of her time working with young people in the community through the medium of Art. She now resides part time in Nevis to continue to explore her subject matter.
