You Only Loved me when my hair was long
Multi media Artist Samina Bukhari has created this series of work on wood exploring her Dual heritage as a mixed British Pakistani woman.
The Title is a homage to Frida Kahlo’s ‘Self portrait with cropped hair’ 1940.
Her work responds to her experiences of being projected onto, and objectified, as a woman rather than being seen as a human being first.

These pieces are Visual representations of how the Artist feels to have Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) showing the depths of this condition which by its nature are challenging to communicate- in a sense a visual aid to help understand CPTSD.
This is a part of her life that has been self-actualised, coming to a place of completion, just as Winter closes and moves into Spring.
