About the Mural

In this mural Martene Rouke creates a jigsaw-like image out of bold colours showing the community connecting with each other alongside “Hello, how are you ?” greetings in some of the many languages spoken in Old Trafford. Languages included in the mural include Romanian, Portuguese, Hindi, Spanish, German, Arabic, French, Kurdish, and Manc of course!
About the Artist

Martene is a graffiti Artist and Architectural Photographer. Her current work is a development of abstract forms inspired directly by graffiti lettering and the urban built environment. She has been involved with graffiti art for almost 20 years and the majority of that time my work primarily focussed on graffiti letter forms and the name as an alter ego. In more recent years she moved on to more abstract forms, but this work is still greatly influenced by the shapes and forms used in graffiti lettering in addition to the urban environment she documents as an architectural photographer.
“Having a chance to collaborate with the Old Trafford community for this mural was a new experience for me but it was great to incorporate some of their thoughts and ideas into the mural and really make this something the Old Trafford community felt a part of. I’m extremely proud to be part of the project and I hope the mural stays for many years for the Old Trafford community to enjoy!”
