Discover Arts Award at Home has been specifically designed as a resource for use during the Coronavirus Pandemic. and is a really simple way for young people under 11 to be recognised and rewarded for all their creative work they have been doing. Find out more from the Arts Award Website here , or get involved with OT creative SPACE.

At OT creative SPACE we really want to support Young people on their creative journey, especially whilst most creative venues are shut. We have seen how you have interacted with our #staycreativeOT trails in the parks and area, submitted art work for our exhibitions and #OTarttrail project as well as created alongside our monthly #THEBACKgALLErY ART CLUB so we are offering you the opportunity to gain your Discover arts award at home.

All you need to do is……

  1. Take part in a creative Activity- this could be using the 5 creative ideas in the parks, The OT creative HUNT, watching one of our Artists videos and following along or something else. make sure to take a picture or write down what you have done.
  2. Find out about an Artist, this could be an Artist involved in one of our projects, a friend or family member, something you’ve seen or Telly or an Artist who has their work displayed around Old Trafford. What do you like/not like about their work?
  3. Share what you have done. You could create a poster to put in your window, a sculpture to hang up in the park, a mini gallery on your front doorstep , something to post to someone else or a digital picture to share online.
  4. You’ve done it! If you would like am official certificate just share what you have done with us and we will send off to Trinity College for it ( there is a £4 cost) and get it delivered to your door!!

As part of The OT Art Trail we worked with a local Primary school where 100 pupils received their Discover Arts award.

Through online Designs workshops and guided Tours of the Trail the children contributed to both the ideas for the Murals and then Creatively responding to the Trail. Heres an example of some of their work.

As part of the Answers on a Postcard please Exhibition along Ayres Road between 8th-23rd Feb we offered a FREE opportunity for young people to gain their Discover Arts Award

Through a series of workshops, walks and open studio events participants were invited to respond to the exhibition through questions and notes, collage, drawing, mixed media as well as getting interviewing an artist involved in the project and getting creative inspired by what they have seen.

We think the work they have created in their journals is awesome and are very pleased to be able to share it with you in The Window.
