About the Mural

This mural came about as a collaboration between the local residents, community and Kelly Brown, the mother of Rhamero West who died at this location as the result of knife crime. It has been created as a symbol of hope and peace showing how out of tragedy new positive things can grow.

The yellow globe/sun in the mural represents hope, roses and lillys reference the flowers that were left and the colour purple was Rhamero’s favourite colour. The tree being nurtured by both adult and child show hope, strength and unity and the green grass figures show the whole community being involved. The butterflies and dove are signs of peace and comfort.

It shows me how amazing the community of Old Trafford is. After what happened to Mero, the communities have really come together.
