About the Mural

Following a series of community workshops, ‘Gladys’ has been created, including images and designs by local residents. Gladys is acompanied by a collection of motifs representing the cultural and architectural heritag of Old Trafford and Manchester, including the strawberry and hearts design that sits behind her. There is also the offering of the earth from Gladys to us, will we take it and look after it?

“It’s been a really fun project to work on and it’s been great to hear all the positive feedback from the locals. The children of Old Trafford inspired me to create the mural on Gladys Street. There were some beautiful images and designs created by them and it was a pleasure to see the breadth of thought that came out of the community workshops.”
