4 Signs Meditate was created during Laura Zhang’s two-month residency at OT creative space. The abstract artist from Hong Kong explores process driven mark making and geometry of nature through drawing and painting with recurring motifs of repetition, illusion and equilibrium.
Growing up on one of Hong Kong’s outlying Islands in a mixed Chinese-British household, cultural-hybridity is at the root of her world view. Her canvas provides a ground to negotiate between perceived binaries; simplicity and complexity, East and West, freedom and order, thought and feeling.
