Botanical Garden

Spoken Word FOR THIS MURAL

Blackburn to Henrietta @ 3pm

Qubek is a street artist and muralist whose work can be seen across Manchester and further afield (he’s painted lots of bees too!). In this Mural he has been inspired by community responses to the history of Old Trafford and the strawberry fields that were once here alongside the Botanical Gardens that used to be at White City and the exhibition hall that was built to house the Art Treasures exhibition in 1857. The Birds and Butterflies represent the people of Old Trafford.

OLD TRAFFORD OCTOPUS @ FULFORD STREET ALLEY

By Trafford Parsons

ABOLITION OF SLAVERY sculpture @ SEYMOUR PARK SPORTS BARN

This sculpture commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Aboloition of slavery Act 1807 and was created by Artists Neil Drummond and PJ . Goodwin . The young people of Old Trafford Youth Centre were involved in the design of the piece as part of a project around Black History and Slavery.

The sculpture did not originally have shackles and chains on it, these were added at a later date due to some complaints of residents stating that it looked too much like a black power statue. See article below:
