About the Mural
This Mural has been developed in collaboration with Trafford Council through the Our Creative Lives Programme celebrating the stories of Old Trafford. Starting with a postcard project inviting community members and local school children to share what they loved about Old Trafford, memories or stories they wanted to celebrate or something that nobody else knows about Old Trafford we collected over 300 responses. Artist Haleema Aziz was then commissioned to turn those responses into a mural. Young Identity were commissioned to respond to the postcards with spoken word that can be heard alongside viewing the mural. The strongest themes that came out of the postcard project was community, people, love, unity, diversity, colour and nature which can be seen represented in the mural
Our Creative Lives
OT creative space and the Old Trafford Cluster are working in collaboration with Trafford Council through Our Creative Lives, a project that seeks to make creativity and cultural activity accessible to everyone in the borough.

About the Artist
Haleema Aziz is a Manchester based multidisciplinary artist whose practice navigates the terrain of migration, displacement and belonging. Drawing on both personal memory and collective histories, her work explores how we carry places within us, even when we leave them, and how new places shape us in turn.
Community inspiration
Workshops were held in 3 local primary schools, St Alphonsus Rc primary school, Old Trafford Community academy and Seymour park community primary school where children were invited to design their own postcard for Old Trafford and write about Old Trafford to someone who had never been here before.
Postcards were also distributed and collected across events, venues, community groups and places of worship across Old Trafford gathering responses from the wider community.
